Programmes at Hearthnest

Three structured offerings for adults who want to approach the years before retirement with a bit more clarity and a good deal less guesswork.

Community reading group session

Pre-Retirement Reading Group

A monthly conversation group focused on one publicly available publication — Malaysian government primers, internationally recognised transition books, or household-finance readers. The facilitator guides discussion; no individual advice is given.

  • Written reading summary provided
  • Questions list for your own specialists
RM 480 / month Enquire
Organised household documents and folders

Household Records Coaching Block

Four one-on-one coaching sessions to help you build a master folder of documents, a household inventory, a personal contact directory, and a short reflection on your retirement priorities. Administrative and organisational in scope — not legal or financial advice.

  • Four 90-minute sessions
  • Printed templates included
  • Follow-up note after one month
RM 1,840 Enquire
Planning workbook and calendar on a desk

Retirement Calendar Planning Year

A twelve-month programme with quarterly half-day workshops, a personal planning workbook, and monthly community discussion calls. Topics draw on publicly available material about EPF and KWSP, household preparation, and family conversations — educational rather than advisory.

Why People Come to Hearthnest

A handful of reasons our participants find these programmes worth their time.

Community Before Isolation

Sharing questions in a small group normalises what can otherwise feel like a very solitary process of sorting through what retirement might mean.

Grounded in Real Sources

We use publicly available Malaysian government resources and internationally recognised books — not proprietary systems or investment products.

Paced for Real Life

Sessions are spaced out deliberately. No weekend retreats or intensive boot camps — just steady, manageable conversations over time.

No Advice, No Pressure

Our work is educational and organisational. We do not give financial, legal, or medical advice, and we do not sell products of any kind.

Rooted in the Malaysian Context

EPF, KWSP, and the specifics of a Malaysian household transition matter here. We work with local materials, not generic templates from elsewhere.

A Warm, Thoughtful Setting

Our Bangsar Baru premises feel more like a reading room than a training centre. We keep groups small so participants have space to think and speak.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to what people usually want to know before joining a programme.

Who are these programmes designed for?
Our programmes are for adults in Malaysia who are roughly five to ten years away from stepping back from full-time work — or who are already in that last year and feeling somewhat unprepared. You do not need any particular background or prior knowledge. Curiosity and a willingness to read and reflect are enough.
Do you give financial or legal advice?
No. Hearthnest is an educational and organisational service. We read published materials together, discuss questions, and help people get their household records in order. We do not give financial, legal, tax, or medical advice. We actively encourage participants to bring questions from our sessions to qualified professionals independently.
How many people attend the reading group sessions?
We keep reading groups small — typically six to ten participants. This allows everyone to contribute to the conversation and means the facilitator can give each session a genuine discussion shape rather than a lecture format.
Are the coaching sessions held at your Bangsar Baru premises?
Most sessions are held in person at 22A Jalan Telawi, Bangsar Baru. For participants who are not based in central Kuala Lumpur, we can discuss remote options for the coaching block. Reading group sessions are currently in-person only, as the conversational element is central to the format.
What does the household records coaching actually involve?
Across four sessions, you will work through building a master document folder, drafting a household inventory, compiling a personal directory of key contacts, and writing a short reflection on what you want your retirement to look like. Each session is ninety minutes. The coach provides printed templates and follows up with a written note one month after your final session.
Can I join more than one programme?
Yes. Many participants combine the reading group with the records coaching block, or join the calendar planning year alongside the reading group. We are happy to talk through what combination makes sense for where you are. Contact us and we can have a brief conversation before you commit.
